About
Who am I?
Hi, I'm Carter Speerschneider—a fourth year Computer Science student at the University of South Florida.
I'm currently working in my role as an Intern at Aubot Academy where I work on curriculum content, implementation, and bug reporting. I love this work and the learning theory that goes into doing it well.
Outside of my work and academics, I enjoy well-spirited debates on philosophy and ethics—Being a vegan, I tend to focus mostly on ethics.
Also, I spend way too much time messing around in the terminal learning different commands and reading man pages.
Passions
As of 2026, I'm really focused on Programming Language Theory. I'm looking to create my own interpreter and work on other projects using regular and context-free grammars.
This year I started learning OCaml—a high-level functional language similar to Haskell. I think it may become what of my favorite languages ever! I have a hard time parsing the syntax sometimes but I'm still just learning it.
I'm also a passionate STEM tutor for CS and Math. I enjoy helping others see the significance in what they are learning and think about how different concepts follow logically. I think it's a fun challenge to try and come at teaching from the perspective of the other. I believe empathy is integral to teaching well.
